NuDown’s proprietary technology, NuTech, enables consumers to personalize their level of insulation on-demand

RENO, Nev. (September 9, 2015) – NuDown, the only outerwear brand utilizing compressed air as insulation, today announced its line of jackets and vests for men and women debut this month at retail. NuTech, NuDown’s proprietary technology, provides warmth via a stowable pocketsize hand pump that consumers use to adjust their level of warmth on the go. Users pump air into the dynamic chambers in the garment until it conforms snugly to the body, providing their desired level of warmth and comfort, or hit a release valve for immediate cooling. Priced from $450 – $800, NuDown will be available at select specialty retailers and online at nudown.com.

“NuDown is providing outdoor, ski, snowboard and travel enthusiasts with the next generation of sustainable and clean outerwear,” said Bob Hall, CEO of NuDown. “Not only is NuDown giving consumers total control over their body climate, but also, they do not need to wear multiple layers. For a day at their favorite resort or in the backcountry, skiers and riders do not need to take a break to store unwanted layers. Lastly, our jackets and vests are ideal for travel because they compress for easy packing and can be used in a variety of temperatures across multiple seasons.”

NuTech uses natural air that is pumped into dynamic laminated air chambers within the garment. Advantages to using air is that it is environmentally friendly, maintains its thermal properties, does not lose its loft when wet, provides warmth when wet and is limitless and pure. The pump provides a 40-degree temperature variation.

The Fall 2015 collection consists of six premium technical outerwear styles (three men’s, three women’s) including the Mount Tallac Jacket, Mount Whitney Vest and Squaw Peak Jacket. Garments feature: Polartec stretch nylon outer layers, double-slider waterproof YKK zippers, PrimaLoft insulation in sleeves and hoods, critically taped seams for protection against wind and rain, RECCO reflectors and breathable, ultra-wicking liners, with a selection made from bamboo charcoal mesh for added breathability and odor control.
